Therapy for teens in Maryland and Washington, DC
Adolescence brings changes in school, friendships, identity, and independence, and sometimes anxiety, low mood, or conflict at home. For a teen, therapy can be a place to be heard without having to perform. I work with adolescents ages 13 and up individually, and bring parents in when it helps the family understand each other and move forward together.
Much of my clinical training and work was with children and adolescents at Kennedy Krieger Institute. I have worked with teens on anxiety, depression, trauma, and adjustment, and with their parents on how to respond to what their teen is going through.
I work comfortably with gender diverse teens and their families. Exploring identity, including gender, is a healthy and normal part of development, and therapy can be a space to do that at your own pace. For adolescent clients, an initial conversation with a parent or guardian is typically part of getting started. For younger children, see therapy for children and families.
